The beauty of being a beginner. The beginning of a road in a beautiful sunset.

Being a beginner can seem daunting and discouraging. You are about to set off into the unknown. That brings up fear, doubt, confusion, and sometimes self-sabotage. Can you turn it around and see the beauty of being a beginner? Find the joy and excitement that comes with a new beginning. If you can change your perspective on being a beginner, you can transform, learn and have fun along the way.

The Unknown

You are feeling inspired and ready to set off into the unknown. Maybe you are taking a course, starting a new job, becoming an entrepreneur, or you are expecting your first baby. This is such a beautiful time. It feels exciting and new, but of course, fear comes with any change or big move. Starting from scratch is exciting, but it can also cause overwhelm. For some people, it’s paralyzing and they get stuck. Can you push past all the muck and see the beauty in being a beginner? This will separate you from a lot of people. Can you see being a beginner as a wonderful fresh start? Can you feel grateful and full of life? Can you fight the fear, conquer it and come out the other side with more wisdom? Or will you get stuck in the stories we tell ourselves, afraid to move forward?

Learn To Love The Journey

When we are doing something new we tend to focus on the end of the journey, instead of embracing each stage. Can you learn to love each stage of growth? Can you move past your fears, doubts, uncertainty and the negative chatter in your mind? Each stage of life is filled with lessons, and you are given the chance to grow and evolve. When we are learning something new we can get in our head and overthink it. The voice in our head can convince us to give up. You might tell yourself it’s too hard and you can’t do it. Can you get out of your head and turn it around? Shift your mindset and learn to love the challenges. Learn to love the journey and realize you have so much to look forward to. Flip the negative thoughts to excitement. We don’t have to fear change. Change=growth and growth is beautiful. Embrace it. Face your fears and jump in with both feet! Human beings ONLY thrive when they are growing. We are not meant to be still and stagnant. Think about the times in your life when you were the happiest. I bet you were growing, learning and pushing yourself.

Push past The Overwhelm Of Being A beginNer

Being overwhelmed can block us from accomplishing what we set out to do. Overwhelm is normal, but it can be debilitating. Something that helps me, is to take things day by day and I don’t look far into the future or analyze the steps I have ahead. I like to do a brain dump to get out all my thoughts and ideas and then decide where to start and that’s it. If you start planning out each stage or overthinking, it can stop you from going after your big dreams. When I first started Healthy Dimensions, I got so overwhelmed that it took me over a year to get started. One day I just went for it. I got up every day and took small steps towards my goal and eventually, it all came together and now it feels expansive and flows.

My motherhood journey also started with a lot of overwhelm. This one took way longer to unblock. Once I started taking care of myself and letting myself be in the present moment it felt way easier!! I let go of a lot of what I thought it should be and I let it just be. I surrendered to the journey. I wake up every day and see it as a fresh start and a new part of my journey. I lean into the lessons and cherish each moment with my kids. This took a massive mindset shift and the deepest surrender I have ever felt. I pause when I feel reactive and overwhelmed and take each hard moment as a gift to surrender more and learn. This has nourished my relationship with my kids in ways that I didn’t even know were possible.

Lean in And Surrender

Lean into the discomfort. The sooner you do, the sooner the discomfort will dissolve. Being a beginner is beautiful! You have so much to look forward to. Get yourself in a good state and allow yourself to feel excited. Go in with both feet and surrender to the process. Live and learn as much as you can. Quiet the mind and soften the heart. Let go of control and any expectations you might have and let life flow.
